What happens when you get sick with a fever? Your body’s temperature elevates significantly beyond the normal range as a result of your immune system trying to fight infection. However, letting a fever climb too high can be dangerous for your body’s own good. A fever is similar to what happens when an engine overheats due to radiator failure, and eventually, the vehicle will quit working.  Therefore, if your car is showing signs of a fever or overheating- bring it into the expert technicians you can trust at Garber Buick GMC of Fort Pierce.

Radiator FAQ’s—

Coolant is passed through the engine block where heat being transferred from the engine is absorbed. The heated coolant is transferred to the core of the radiator where the liquid is circled through the radiator’s tubes. Eventually, the coolant will arrive at a secondary tank where it cools. Once the coolant has lowered in temperature, it is transferred back to the engine where the cycle repeats itself.

If your vehicle is frequently overheating under normal driving conditions, it is a good sign that your radiator is in need of replacement. Your car’s manufacturer may provide recommendations in the owner’s manual regarding when the radiator should be inspected and serviced.

Absolutely! The radiator is an important part of your vehicle for it to operate at full potential and Garber Buick GMC is committed to making this happen. Please contact a Garber Buick GMC technician with any questions you may have regarding your radiator, or to set up a service appointment.

Garber Buick GMC takes pride in repairing all vehicle makes, models, and ages. Whether you purchased your car from us or another dealership, we are happy to help with your vehicle needs. Everything you need to know about radiators—

Just as sweating helps to keep you cool, the radiator works the same way for the engine. The inner-workings of the car work hard to get you where you need to go and as a result, things can get pretty hot under the hood. The friction, movement, and interaction of your engine’s parts create heat, and in order to maintain a temperature that is not too extreme the engine has built-in devices to keep it cool. The radiator is one of these cooling devices.

To keep the temperature under the hood at a reasonable level, coolant is sent to the engine block to absorb excess heat. After a thermostat adjusts based on the temperature of the fluids, the coolant is transferred to the radiator to remove engine heat. Fans within the radiator use airflow to keep the engine cooled down. Following this process, coolant re-cycles through the engine to repeat the cooling cycle over and over again.

Without engine cooling devices, specifically the radiator, it would be impossible for the engine of your car to stay at a safe temperature for driving. That being said, servicing your radiator is the best way to make certain it is safely keeping your engine cool and not collecting a build-up of contaminants. Help your ride stay cool- contact Garber Buick GMC today!
